"Romania aims at becoming a modern country, where the access to technology
and the use of Internet would be at hand for everyone interested or in need
of, regardless their income. The Internet-café's offer for all those
who don't have an Internet connection at home an opportunity to solve many
of their problems online, including administration and taxes-related problems",
said Dan Nica, the IT&C Minister.
The preliminary data shows that 2758 Internet Café's are currently
opened in Romania, with some 7500 workstations. Almost 300 of them are
located in Bucharest and Constanta. The counties with the highest density
of public Internet access sites are Cluj - 33, Vrancea -32, Mehedinti
- 31, Neamt - 31.
During the following months, the Ministry will make available the exact
results of the inventory of functional e-café's, all these locations
being able to record themselves in the online company director of the
