From July next year,U.S. and other non-EU companies will
have to be registered with a tax authority in one of the 15 member states
and be required to levy that country's VAT rate on all applicable Internet
transactions. The member country will then distribute the taxes collected
to other countries, based on where the actual sales are made.
The Mayor's Office in Bucharest's 5th District is the first owner
of an Info-Kiosk system which, besides the information on local authorities,
allows the electronic payment of local taxes. According to the latest orders,
all local authorities will have to implement the systems for e-payment,
in all cities and county capitals.
The methodology for electronic payment of taxes was recently approved, an
IT&C Ministry press release shows, the orders including the general
features of the system, the structure and the information content of the
registry, and the conditions and procedures needed in order to access the
data referring to the amount owed for local and general taxes.
